2.7L 4-cylinder Engine
3.5L V6 Engine
Toyota Tacoma SR
Starting off the lineup is the Toyota Tacoma SR. There are two engine options available with the SR. Its standard 2.7L 4-cylinder engine produces a capable 159 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. What if you want more power?
When paired with the Double Cab 5-foot bed, the SR comes with a 3.5L V6 engine. This engine delivers 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque.
Not only does this pickup give you ample power, but the truck can also tow a great deal. In fact, it has a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds when properly equipped. This lets you haul:
- Work equipment
- Camping gear
When properly equipped, a payload of 1,685 pounds lets you carry the tools and equipment you need for work. The trim also introduces Toyota’s emphasis on safety. With Hill Start Assist Control, the standard trim of the 2021 Tacoma is ready to tackle any challenging terrain.
The Tacoma SR5 offers similar performance features as the SR trim. The SR5 is the final Tacoma to present a choice between the 2.7L 4-cylinder engine and the 3.5L V6 engine.
It also comes with Toyota Safety Sense™ P, like the base trim. This suite of driver-assisting technologies can help prevent an accident from occurring with features, such as:
- Automatic High Beams
- Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
- Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
Not only can the standard features in the SR5 help keep you safe, but they will also keep you entertained.
With Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, you can connect your smartphone and listen to your playlists, podcasts, and more. To dial up the latest hit or an old favorite, you can swipe on an 8-inch touchscreen for easy access. This allows you to stay connected while you drive for work or play.
Tacoma TRD Sport
The 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport, which stands for “Toyota Racing Development”, lives up to its name right from its exterior design. The truck sets itself apart with features, like:
- Gray grille with smoked finish and chrome surround
- Hood scoop
- Color-keyed heated power outside mirrors
- Color-keyed door handles
With this trim, you’ll drive with confidence, thanks to a gray grille with a smoked finish and chrome surround. With its 17-inch machined alloy wheels, the TRD Sport has a truly athletic look and feel.
Inside, you’ll find a refined cabin with fabric-trimmed seats that keep everyone in the front row comfortable. Drivers can position themselves with a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support. The front passenger has their own 4-way adjustable seat.
Like each following trim of the 2021 Toyota Tacoma, this trim of the truck offers one engine. The 3.5L V6 engine generates a muscular performance in each following edition of the truck.
For a futuristic feel, you’ll be able to leave the USB cords at home with Qi-compatible wireless smartphone charging. First available in the TRD Sport trim, this feature lets you stay powered up and connected to the world around you.
Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road
Like the TRD Sport, the Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road comes equipped with a standard 3.5L V6 engine. Like all of the other trims of the 2021 Toyota Tacoma, you can either opt for Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) or 4WDemand part-time 4WD.
With the latter, you’ll have confidence driving on even the slickest surfaces. Drivers who love to travel to places that are in the middle of nowhere can do so with the TRD Off-Road. How does the truck let you escape when you travel?
With “off-road” in the name, you know this 2021 Toyota Tacoma trim can handle any type of terrain. This is largely due in part to Multi-Terrain Select. There are five modes to choose from:
- Mud & Sand
- Loose Rock
- Rock & Dirt
Each mode automatically adjusts the engine throttle and brakes to help improve traction. The Mogul mode lets you rule the bumpy roads while the Rock mode helps you conquer rocky terrain. Feel free to drive through the woods or on the beach—the Tacoma can handle it.
With the Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road, you’ll also be able to harness the potential of its Crawl Control. This feature modulates the throttle and the brakes with five low-speed settings. You’ll be able to drive with confidence and keep an eye on the road ahead with CRAWL.
In the 2021 Toyota Tacoma Limited, you’ll have the same capabilities as the TRD Off-Road. However, the interior gets an upgrade:
- Leather-trimmed seats
- Panoramic View Monitor
- Dual zone automatic climate contro
- Auto-dimming day/night rearview mirror
The Panoramic View Monitor expands your truck’s horizons, literally. An array of cameras on the front, sides, and rear of the truck combines for a unique 360-degree view of what’s going on outside your truck. This helps you park, tow, and drive with the assurance of a system that’s anything but limited.
You’ll now find leather-trimmed seats in the cabin, too. These seats are 10-way power-adjustable for the driver and 4-way adjustable for the front passenger, so you and your copilot can quickly get comfortable.
Furthermore, the Limited trim comes with even more driver-assisting technologies. There’s an optional Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and an available rear parking assist sonar.
If you signal to switch lanes and a car is in your blind spot, you’ll see a flashing icon in the appropriate side mirror. Plus, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert will send an audible alert if a vehicle is approaching while you’re backing out of a parking spot.
Tacoma TRD Pro
The final 2021 Toyota Tacoma trim is the TRD Pro. Drivers can travel over tough roads and go off-roading, thanks to its rugged design topped off with these features:
- TRD Pro cat-back exhaust
- TRD-tuned off-road suspension with 2.5-inch FOX® Internal Bypass shocks
- Active Traction Control
- LED headlights
With its Heritage “Toyota” front grille, black badging, and hood scoop with matte-black decal, the truck shows others who’s the boss. Plus, the LED headlights with black sport bezels and Rigid Industries® LED fog lights look good and help you see better at night.
The unique look continues inside as well, with black TRD Pro leather-trimmed heated front seats. How does the TRD Pro elevate your driving experience even further?
Try listening to music powered by its premium audio installation. It’ll be hard to go back to a normal listening experience, thanks to its six JBL® speakers, including a subwoofer and an amplifier. The sound system engulfs the cabin with crisp audio that makes each drive more fun.
Along with this premium infotainment package is a 3-year Dynamic Navigation trial that provides reliable mapping information. You’ll need this when you escape to the great outdoors and look up through the moonroof to gaze at the stars or gawk at the beauty of your destination.
